Strapping material

The most commonly used types of straps are Polypropylene (PP strap), Polyester (PET) and steel straps. Each type has its own unique properties, application areas and advantages/disadvantages.

Steel strap was designed for extreme tasks for which a heavy or very firm strap is needed, whereby a high strength and minimum stretch is required, or when the product can be sharp or hot.

Polypropylene straps are the most commonly used straps and are used in a wide range of industries. PP band has been specially designed for light to medium weight loads and is excellent under normal circumstances.

Polyester band is the strongest plastic band. It is stronger than PP band. It is often used for heavy loads that require a high tension. In many industries, PET is used as an alternative to steel.

Strapping materials

Steel strap

Steel strap is very durable and suitable for extreme conditions. It can be used, for example, around hot and sharp products. The strength and non-stretch of steel strap makes it a great choice for challenging situations. Metal straps are available in galvanized, black and roster with 9-32 mm width options.

Polypropylene strap (PP)

Polypropylene is a popular strapping material that can be used in many industries. It is designed for light and medium loads as well as normal conditions.

Polyester strap (PET)

Polyester strap is a strapping material that can be used for heavy loads. It is the strongest plastic strap and thus a great alternative to steel.

Plastic or steel strap?

After long-term use of steel strap, it can be difficult to replace the strap with plastic strapping material, as it is often felt that it is not as durable as steel strap. However, a polyester strap is a very durable solution. In addition, the plastic truss is lighter than steel, making it much easier to handle. Moreover, plastic strap has a lower risk of cuts than steel strap. The plastic strapping material is also easier to dispose of, and our PET strap is fully recyclable.

Sealing of the strapping material

The strap is tightened around the load, after which it is locked in place to keep the load securely in the bundle. Excess strapping material is removed by cutting to give a clean finish. The ends of the metal strap can be joined unlocked using a punching tool, but there are also lockable options. The plastic strapping material requires a buckle or seal, but the ends can also be welded together with a battery driven or pneumatic strapping tool or a strapping machine.

Strapping materials for various purposes

Plastic and steel straps can be used for many different purposes, such as closing boxes and containers, bundling (e.g., newspapers and timber), and attaching goods to pallets or vehicles.
